We're building the community before the building.

MakeMaryland LLC was created to explore a modern maker and innovation community for Columbia, Howard County, and the surrounding region.

Howard County has the people. It needs the place.

This region is full of engineers, technologists, educators, entrepreneurs, families, students, and retired professionals. Many of them want to keep learning, building, and sharing. But there is no obvious central place where those people come together around modern making.

MakeMaryland exists to find out whether that community is ready to come together.

If the answer is yes, the next step is a permanent home.

Responsible growth, not blind optimism.

1. Validate Demand

Collect interest, meet people, recruit teachers, host events, and measure real engagement.

2. Build Community

Create connections before committing to rent, build-out, furniture, storage, and operating costs.

3. Choose the Right Space

Lease or buy only when the community signal is strong enough to justify the commitment.

After years in the maker community, one lesson stands out: the best spaces are not defined by the tools. They are defined by the people.

The equipment matters. The layout matters. The business model matters. But the culture matters more.

Learn. Build. Belong.

This is the promise: a welcoming place where people can learn modern skills, build useful and creative projects, and find others who enjoy the same thing. The early question is simple: does Howard County want it enough to help make it real?
